F* Thigh Gaps

The biggest thing people ask me is, “Why did you delete all of your fitness posts on Instagram?”

Well, here you see me on a magazine cover with an actual thigh gap ….

What you DON’T SEE is the two hours a day of cardio that it took to keep my hips in proportion with my shoulders.  Yes, I said TWO hours a cardio/day!

That is why I took down all of my fitness related content.  I realized the power of social media and I questioned …what message am I actually sending?

This is the real me; not doing excessive cardio everyday ….. this is the real proportion of my shoulders to my hips … & No, I do not have a thigh gap.

But all jokes aside; with the rise of social media came the rise of deaths related to dangerous weight loss goals. So much so; that Instagram actually hid any posts with the hashtag #thighgap in an effort to try to protect the community from content that might encourage behavior that could cause harm ….

I really do hope more people realize they are not seeing the entire picture.  I hope more people learn to utilize fitness to feel good about themselves … to enhance, but at the same time embrace what God has given them …. not to go to un-healthy measures to try to change something.
